Homes we remodel in Chicago
The Northwest and West Side neighborhoods closest to us are the heart of the Chicago Bungalow Belt: brick bungalows from the 1910s to the 1930s, raised ranches from the 1950s, and two-flats and greystones closer in. Bungalows have narrow kitchens at the back of the house, one bathroom, a full basement and an attic that begs to become living space.
What Chicago homeowners ask us to build
The work we see most in the city is opening a closed bungalow kitchen to the dining room, turning a single pink-tile bathroom into a modern walk-in shower, finishing the basement into a family room with a second bath, and refreshing two-flat units between tenants.

Kitchen Remodeling in Chicago
Most Chicago-area kitchens we walk into were built for a different way of living: a closed room, a peninsula that blocks traffic, oak cabinets that ran out of room years ago.

Bathroom Remodeling in Chicago
A bathroom is the room where cheap work shows up first: grout that cracks, a shower that leaks into the ceiling below, a vanity that swells.

A finished basement is the cheapest square footage you will ever add to a Chicago-area home, as long as it stays dry.

Learn moreLocal notes for Chicago
Chicago runs its own Department of Buildings, separate from every suburb, and most remodels that touch plumbing, electrical or walls need a permit. Older city homes also hide surprises: knob-and-tube wiring, galvanized pipes and plaster walls. We open walls carefully and tell you what we find before it becomes a change order.

Honey oak peninsula to an open kitchen with a navy island
The old oak peninsula closed the room off. SRC took it out, opened the plan, and built a long Midnight Navy island with a white quartz top, bar seating for three, white shaker perimeter cabinets and three pendants over the island.
